Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant plays a critical support role in our hospitals, assisting veterinarians and technicians while ensuring the safety and comfort of pets, clients, and team members. This role helps maintain a productive workflow in the hospital and supports an organized, clean, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities

+ Assist with patient care, monitoring, and procedures as allowed by state laws

+ Help maintain patient flow and support veterinarians and technicians with daily tasks

+ Safely restrain pets for exams and procedures

+ Set up and clean exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites

+ Educate clients on preventive care and promote Optimum Wellness Plans

+ Collect patient histories and maintain accurate medical records

+ Provide exceptional client service and ensure pet comfort at all times

+ Mentor and support new team members as needed

+ Comply with all hospital safety protocols and procedures

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

+ Certificate from a NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred , or equivalent training and experience

+ High school diploma or equivalent preferred

+ At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary, animal care, or customer service role is desirable

+ Must be at least 18 years old

Skills & Competencies:

+ Action-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment

+ Excellent communication, listening, and client service skills

+ Comfortable working around a variety of animals

+ Basic computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office and veterinary software is a plus

+ Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

+ Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
