Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Lab Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting various tests and maintaining the integrity of our quality management system. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct government tests involving climbing drum peels and lap shears, including setting up machinery, preparing samples, running tests, and recording results.
+ Perform flame tests by setting up equipment, identifying specimens, conducting tests, and entering data.
+ Execute 168-hour tests with machine setup, sample preparation, test execution, and data entry.
+ Take particle count readings in designated areas, average results, and record data.
+ Monitor and record solution temperatures and water purity, including tank temperatures.
+ Observe and document temperature, humidity, and pressure differentials in specific rooms.
+ Analyze solutions for aluminum and acid concentrations, maintain equipment, and communicate adjustments as needed.
+ Test materials for conformance to specifications, including visual inspections and various content and strength tests.
+ Manage materials by tracking expiration dates, shelf life, and inventory changes.
+ Issue weekly test travelers and compile automated reports for wedge crack tests.
+ Maintain inventory, order lab supplies, and ensure equipment and workspace cleanliness.
+ Ensure quality assurance processes comply with the Quality Management System.
+ Use gauges and measuring equipment to ensure product conformance.
Essential Skills
+ Ability to read and comprehend instructions and present information effectively.
+ Problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret various types of instructions.
+ Strong organizational skills and understanding of technical specifications.
+ Knowledge of Epicor software, Excel, and Word Processing software.
+ Experience in laboratory, quality assurance, QC, chemistry, HPLC, and titration.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in a technology/science-based field preferred.
+ Minimum of 1 year of experience in an inspection environment required.
+ Preferred 1-3 years of direct composite testing experience.
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday-Friday, from either 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm. The role is based in a manufacturing area with moderate noise levels and involves working near moving mechanical parts 90% of the time and exposure to fumes or airborne particles 50% of the time.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Berlin, Connecticut.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
