    Project Quality Control Specialist

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Quality Control Specialist to oversee quality control processes in civil and military airfield construction projects. This role involves managing quality control plans and ensuring compliance with safety legislation and company procedures.

    Responsibilities

    + Oversee the approval process for the Project Quality Control Plan (QCP) and Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP).

    + Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure the availability of quality control personnel and necessary equipment, such as testing tools and site laboratories, for project execution.

    + Coordinate with Client Quality Assurance personnel to execute and inspect the works.

    + Manage Third Party Testing Agencies, including coordinating testing activities, utilizing on-site personnel, and reviewing related reports and commercial documents, if needed.

    + Ensure that site staff and subcontractors adhere to current safety legislation and company procedures, promoting Health, Safety, and Welfare as core values.

    + Brief site staff and subcontractors on QCP and ITP requirements and ensure compliance, including the preparation of testing reports.

    + Review all material and work process submissions before client approval.

    + Conduct inspections of off-site subcontractor and supplier facilities if necessary to meet project requirements.

    + Prepare and review quality control documentation, such as Client QC Daily Reports, Monthly QC Reports, and Logs.

    + Implement the Three Phase Stage of Control for work activities: Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-up.

    + Understand Specification and Contract requirements to ensure work is executed to the correct standards.

    + Make key decisions independently while keeping the Project Manager and Senior Management Team informed and aligned with company procedures and Delegation of Authority (DLA).

    + Delegate tasks appropriately and promote independence, decision-making, and accountability within the project team.

    + Communicate key issues to the Project Manager and Senior Management Team.

    + Attend daily and weekly internal briefings and progress meetings.

    Essential Skills

    + 5-7 years of experience in civil construction.

    + Experience with asphalt and large runways, particularly in airport settings.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Airport experience preferred but not required.

    + Knowledge of Quality Control (QC) processes is advantageous.

    Work Environment

    This role involves traveling, with two positions available: one for a night shift Supervisor in St. Thomas and another for a person in the DC/Roanoke Airport area. Both positions are night shifts. Flights for onboarding and offboarding are provided, along with paid mileage. The initial weeks will involve submittals, which can be done remotely until project kickoff.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodbridge, Virginia.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
