Job Description – Design Engineer (Sheet Metal Focus)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Design Engineer with strong sheet metal experience to join our team in creating custom commercial kitchen equipment. This role is ideal for candidates who have hands-on experience with stainless steel and sheet metal fabrication, and who are proficient in 3D modeling and CAD design.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Design and model custom stainless steel equipment to meet specific customer and industry requirements, with a strong emphasis on sheet metal fabrication.

+ Create detailed shop drawings including floor plans, elevations, and specifications based on customer input.

+ Manage large CAD assemblies consisting of sheet metal components, sub-assemblies, hardware, and imported files.

+ Draft complex parts and assemblies with mechanical integration, focusing on sheet metal design.

+ Generate DXF files for laser cutting and bending operations.

+ Troubleshoot and adapt CAD models from the library to meet customer specifications.

+ Collaborate with project managers to deliver accurate drafts for customer review.

+ Support other Design Engineers by sharing best practices, improving modeling skills, and providing software training.

Required Skills & Experience:

+ 0–2 years of experience, preferably in food service equipment or related industries.

+ Proven experience in sheet metal design and fabrication is essential.

+ Proficiency in Siemens SolidEdge for 3D modeling, especially for sheet metal components.

+ Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and PDM systems.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

+ Understanding of GD&T principles for manufacturing sheet metal parts.

+ Experience with product procurement and drafting electrical drawings is a plus.

+ Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Background in designing machine parts and working with DME standards.

+ Experience in food service equipment design is highly desirable

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
