The Research Service Center (RSC) (https://usm.maine.edu/research-service-center/people/) , embedded in the Catherine Cutler Institute, is the primary resource for USM faculty, staff, and students engaged in externally funded research. The RSC provides comprehensive support—from developing a proposal idea to managing an awarded project.

The institute collaborates with public and private partners to address complex social issues and inform decision-making at the local, state, and national levels. Key focus areas include Health and Human Services, Early Childhood and Youth Development, Justic Policy, Disability and Aging, and Economic Workforce Development.
The Employee Resource Coordinator (https://drive.google.com/file/d/16jhacO\_yP7E5u451dotFNi1p0OPq-BRy/view?usp=sharing) plays a vital role in ensuring that employee resource needs related to grant-funded projects are systematically identified, strategically addressed, and aligned with university policies and procedures. This position has primary responsibility for overseeing workforce management systems within a complex, grant-supported environment, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency that reflect best practices in higher education administration.
Key responsibilities include:
+ Assisting in the compliance of workforce policies, procedures, and systems related to sponsored projects.
+ Reviewing and processing personnel actions, such as position searches and reclassifications.
+ Supporting recruitment and retention processes for grant-funded staff.
+ Identifying and resolving internal operations issues with professionalism and discretion.
+ Coordinating closely with University Human Resources and other administrative offices across the University of Maine System (UMS).
+ Serving as the primary liaison between the Research Service Center and UMS HR to ensure efficient and compliant personnel operations.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced administrator who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and demonstrates sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting research excellence at USM.
This a full-time position to be located on our Portland Campus, with a starting annual salary of $52,785.

Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience using skills related to this position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Demonstrated employee resource/workforce management experience
+ Demonstrated knowledge of electronic spreadsheets and database management.
