Job Title: Welder
Job Description
As a Welder, you will be responsible for using welding techniques to join metal parts and repair broken metal components. You will manually guide electrodes or guns along the weld line, ensuring precision and quality in your work. This role requires welding in various positions including flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead, and examining welds for specified depth and bead size.
Responsibilities
+ Strike an arc to melt and deposit metal from electrode to work piece.
+ Guide electrode or gun manually along weld line, maintaining arc length and speed.
+ Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
+ Examine welds for bead size and specifications.
+ Apply filler rod manually to supply weld metal.
+ Clean or degrease weld joints or work pieces.
+ Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
+ Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
+ Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
+ Preheat work piece with hand torch or heating furnace.
+ Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
+ Tack assemblies together.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with blueprints.
+ MIG welding experience (1+ years).
+ Basic understanding of welding fundamentals.
+ Experience with stainless, mild, or carbon steel.
+ Positive attendance history.
+ Experience in assembly and structural welding.
+ Proficiency with measuring tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
+ Eagerness to learn and develop skills.
+ Experience with hand and power tools.
+ Comfortable working in a non-temperature controlled environment.
+ Willingness to work overtime.
+ Available to work the 1st shift.

Work Environment
Work in a non-temperature controlled environment that can get very hot in the summer. The facility is medium-sized and relatively clean, ensuring a comfortable workspace.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract-to-Hire position based out of Altamont, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
