Job Title: Marine Mechanic
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Marine Mechanic who is proficient in the operation of machines and hand tools necessary for efficient and economical repairs. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of machine and mechanical principles, as well as the ability to locate sources of defective operations or breakdowns.
Responsibilities
+ Operate machines and hand tools necessary for repairs.
+ Identify and troubleshoot sources of defective operations or breakdowns.
+ Use hand tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
+ Understand blueprints and manufacturers' specifications for tool and equipment repair.
+ Instruct Machinist/Mechanic Helper when assigned.
+ Qualify to wear a respirator.
+ Travel up to 25% for company business.
+ Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for environmental protection.
+ Assist in the receipt, mooring, and departure of vessels.
+ Comply with corporate core values, policies, and procedures.
+ Collaborate effectively and professionally with coworkers.
+ Be available for overtime work if required.
+ Handle weights up to 100 pounds and carry up to 200 feet.
+ Work in moderate phases with short periods of high activity.
+ Climb vertical and inclined ladders and work in strained positions.
+ Observe and ensure compliance with safety precautions.
+ Perform other assigned tasks supporting safe operation and contractual execution.
Essential Skills
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ Four years of relevant ship or industrial mechanic machinist experience.
+ Graduated from an accredited vocational/education training center with a minor in diesel engines.
+ Valid driver's license and qualification to operate government/company vehicles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Four years of experience in a Navy Engineering rating or Armed Forces Diesel Engine Repair Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) is preferred.

Work Environment
Work at the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard, spending 75% of work time outside and 25% indoors. Be prepared for extreme heat in the summer and cold in the winter. Withstand moderate noise levels and occasionally work alone, but spend 95% of time interacting with other departments. Must be capable of operating office and mechanical equipment and have college-level reading and writing skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Philadelphia, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.91 - $32.00/hr.
