Job Title: Diesel Mechanic
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at a construction infrastructure and design company in Houston. The role involves building and repairing diesel engines for a range of vehicles, including Ford trucks (F150 - F450), Class A Vac Trucks, Ford transit vans, Mercedes sprinter vans, and various other diesel engine vehicles. You will also work on assembling and repairing equipment for hydro excavation, with a focus on hydraulic repairs, oil changes, and other maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
+ Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy.
+ Diagnose and repair malfunctions in engines, transmissions, electrical steering, suspensions, brakes, climate, computer, and electronics.
+ Communicate with the floor lead or supervisor to obtain necessary parts.
+ Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
+ Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
+ Conduct road tests on vehicles when required.
+ Maintain knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance.
+ Conduct basic trailer repair and maintenance.
+ Learn new technologies and procedures.
+ Operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
+ Maintain a neat and clean shop area.
+ Work comfortably and knowledgeably on class 3-8 vehicles, air brake systems, and electrical and hydraulic systems.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
+ Experience working on Class A vehicles.
+ Ability to learn and adapt to extensive and unique training.
+ Experience in fabrication.
+ Own tools and valid driver's license.
+ Basic computer skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bilingual in Spanish/English.
+ Experience with hydro excavation equipment, heavy equipment, Ford trucks, or mobile fleets.

Work Environment
The position is based in an open-aired shop environment, working from 6 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential adjustments to 7 am to 5 pm depending on workload. You will collaborate with a team of heavy equipment and diesel mechanics. The work environment is supportive, with opportunities for training and development, though independence is also required. You will primarily work with the shop manager and interact with other mechanics in the shop.

This is a Permanent position based out of Houston, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.
