    Halo Studios is building the future of the blockbuster _Halo_ series of video games using Unreal Engine. As part of Xbox Game Studios, the _Halo_ franchise encompasses games, novels, comics, licensed collectibles, apparel, and more with a shared vision of heroism, mystery, and wonder.     Halo Studios is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Integration and Tools to define and build the tools, pipelines, and automation systems that will power the future of _Halo_ games in Unreal Engine 5. You will work closely with development teams to design and implement solutions that address content creation bottlenecks.

     

    Collaborating across disciplines, you will define and leverage telemetry to ensure our systems perform reliably at scale, investigate complex Unreal Engine challenges, and guide the integration of major engine releases into _Halo_ . Your guidance and mentorship will strengthen the team’s ability to solve technical challenges, enhance the developer experience, and deliver the next generation of _Halo_ products.

    Responsibilities

    + Design, implement, and maintain Halo Studios' use of Unreal Engine 5, including integrations, data validation, and testing.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partner studios to deliver engineering solutions that align with project goals and timelines andidentify areas of shared interest and investment.

    + Drive technical excellence across the team by making technological choices that support a globally distributed development team.

    + Develop engineering systems and culture centered around continuous feature delivery, demonstrating progress in building and quickly addressing customer needs.

    + Coordinate with discipline leads across projects to identify current tooling needs and assist in defining roadmaps for long-term tooling investments.

    + Mentor and guide engineers at all levels, providing career and technical development, with a focus on supporting junior developers.

    + Establish standards for developer experience and performance, then create strategies to achieve these objectives.

    + Identify and address gaps in test automation coverage, debug crash dumps to improve editor and engine stability, and optimize code and content build systems.

    + Create and automate workflows to enhance efficiency and reliability across the development pipeline.

    Qualifications

    Required qualifications:

    + **Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python**

    + **OR equivalent experience.**

    + 3+ years direct experience with Unreal Engine, with a deep understanding of developer and content workflows.

    + 2+ years experience with game console development.

    + 2+ years of hands-on experience operating Perforce or a comparable SCM tool, including implementing advanced branch management strategies and resolving complex merge conflicts in a production environment.

    Other Requirements:

    + Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

    + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Preferred qualifications:

    + **Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python**

    + **OR equivalent experience.**

    + Demonstrated experience applying agile methodologies and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) practices on at least two shipped AAA game titles or large-scale software projects.

    + Proven ability to perform root cause analysis on critical technical issues, with examples of how you identified, addressed, and resolved at least two major incidents in prior roles.

    + Track record of communicating complex engineering concepts and creating technical documentation, with examples of when you presented to cross-functional teams or led training sessions.

    + Experience successfully delivering results in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments, with examples of adapting to shifting priorities or requirements on at least two projects.

     

    Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
