Description
The Estée Lauder Companies adopted an ambitious Global Corporate Citizenship Strategy (GCCS) aiming to fully integrate sustainability into company functions and drive growth.
This role would be responsible for overseeing and executing this strategy within the Travel Retail Channel, which includes overseeing sustainability issues such as stakeholder engagement, non⁃financial reporting, brand engagement, operations: energy & emissions and social investments. This role would also facilitate and support the execution of sustainability goals implemented by other departments/functions that touch TR's scope. This role is responsible for developing and executing key sustainability and ID&E programs across TR in order to ensure that KPIs are met successfully.
The ideal candidate will have worked in a multi⁃branded retail company and/or another industry with a high⁃profile consumer brand. The individual will be able to demonstrate experience with reputation building, creativity and innovation in both the sustainability and ID&E areas.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Direct the planning, development and implementation of TR's Sustainability and ID&E programs.
+ Drive execution of ELC strategy on Citizenship & Sustainability & ID&E through TR channel, Lead Sustainability and ID&E workstreams across TR and partner groups, coordinating meetings, agenda and progress against goals and objectives.
+ Ensure strategic alignment with Global GCCS &ID&E teams & strategies, Collaborate with internal business leads, including senior leadership, and external stakeholder groups to achieve key sustainability and ID&E goals, develop strong relationships and partnerships with aligned goals.
+ Work closely with internal and external resources to develop creative and integrated sustainability and ID&E programs, including our presence at key conferences like ClimateWeek, as well as university partnership, alumni events and associations.
+ Oversee GCCS governance coordination, monitoring & risk mitigation for TR by implementing policies, establishing baselines, and identifying future goals, helping to better manage risks, reduce or avoid costs, and build on ELCs heritage of corporate social responsibility.
+ Establish and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements.
+ Manage metrics and reporting on performance for management reports and inclusion in ELC's annual sustainability report and for our various ID&E programs.
+ Partner with communications to write and edit materials promoting our sustainability program and activities via the company intranet, corporate website, sustainability report and our digital channels.
+ Partner with HR to ensure connectivity to corporate⁃wide engagement metrics, talent best practice and ID&E efforts.
+ Work closely with and our legal department to develop and enable sustainability claims across TR channel.
+ Maintain understanding of leading trends and changes in climate and energy, corporate social responsibility, brand purpose and ID&E landscape, including regulatory and employment issues.
Qualifications
+ 10+ years of relevant professional experience in the private sector or from a top⁃tier consulting firm in CSR/sustainability
+ 5+ years of progressive experience in developing solutions and implementing strategies with focus on diversity and cross⁃cultural resource efforts in an organization with diverse constituencies
+ Excellent understanding of generalist sustainability concepts, including social and environmental standards (e.g., UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, Carbon Disclosure Project, Global Reporting Initiative, UN Global Compact, Nagoya Protocol, etc.)
+ Excellent understanding of ID&E concepts, including equity, inclusive recruitment, Unconscious Bias, Psychological Safety, external partnerships, and community investment
+ Successful track record with stakeholder engagement across key groups including but not limited to: employees, consumers, communities and other individuals/entities of influence
+ Confidence to counsel and present to company leaders on sustainability and ID&E initiatives and strategy
+ Exceptional organizational skills, ability to manage several projects at once, even while away from the office
+ Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills, including communicating and marketing sustainability and ID&E efforts
+ High ethical standards and commitment to core values of leadership, respect, and integrity
