About the role
As a Senior Mainframe Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and maintaining robust mainframe applications that support critical business operations. You will be a valued member of the Technology & Engineering team and work collaboratively with offshore developers, business analysts, and project stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
+ Analyze and interpret business requirements to design scalable mainframe solutions.
+ Develop and maintain applications using COBOL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, and JCL.
+ Create and integrate new zOS-based APIs to enhance system functionality.
+ Collaborate with offshore teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of development tasks.

What you need to have to be considered:
+ 6–10 years of hands-on experience in IBM Mainframe development.
+ Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and CICS.
+ Experience working in zOS environments and developing APIs.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with offshore teams.
+ Proven track record of supporting testing and production implementation phases.
These will help you stand out:
+ Experience in financial services or banking environments.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Familiarity with Agile methodologies in mainframe environments.
+ Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Salary and other compensation

The annual salary for this position is between **$60,000 – $93,500** , depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
