Position Overview
The Manager of R&D Electrical Engineering provides leadership, technical support, and effectively manages and develops direct reports. Responsible for product and process development, resources, and project management activities associated with executing the company's goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions
• Manage, lead, and mentor engineer(s) and/or technician(s).
• Lead project activities from concept through clinical trial and commercial release of products.
• Mentor and support a variety of development and engineering activities, with primary focus on medical device electronic systems design and development.
• Manage the design and development activities of electronics hardware and embedded software for medical device product(s) in full compliance with the company’s Design Control and
appropriate regulatory agency requirements.
• Coordinate the activities of personnel involved in developing new and improved products and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure that development activities are properly documented under design control in accordance with company policy.
• Coordinate cross-functional alignment and support for program success.
• Manage outside suppliers and contractors providing products or services.
• Create, maintain, and communicate project timelines for development projects.
• Provide regular updates of key milestones and issues to the project core team and management as needed.
• Identify issues and recommend solutions for products in development.
• Contribute ideas to new products, as defined by product specification requirements.
• Approve test methods, acceptance criteria, and test equipment for all stages of product development.
• Coordinate and participate in events, which provide clinical feedback such as animal studies, physician interface meetings, and Human Clinical Studies.
• Ensure that products satisfy acceptable quality standards and customer needs with consensus from cross-functional groups.
• Review and approve documents under version control as required.
• Contribute to the Design History File and conduct design reviews in compliance with Design control procedures.
• Ensure that products follow good manufacturing design processes and that system verifications and validations are completed.
• Interact with cross-functional groups to ensure compatibility with other products in the intended system and that all design control processes are followed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in the development of electronic equipment, with 3+ years in medical device technology.
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in leading projects through all phases of product development.
• 2+ years’ experience managing direct reports or other applicable experience.
• Experience with EN60601-1 and collateral standards as they apply to medical electrical equipment
• Experience with C and assembly language programming is a plus
• Experience with software lifecycle management processes and tools is a plus
• Experience with lasers and pulse discharge systems is a plus
• Effective communication skills with all levels of management
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities
• Guide development team toward established goals while demonstrating flexibility to changing requirements
• Employee may be required to lift objects up to 25lbs

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$141,000 - $227,700
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
