Job Overview
Summary
The Quality Assurance Specialist performs a variety of quality-related tasks to ensure products meet company standards. Responsibilities include supporting the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), warranty and freight claims, handling non-conforming products, maintaining ISO compliance, performing calibrations, assisting with audits, and implementing quality policies. The role also involves hands-on work with sorting, auditing, and reworking materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Oversight & PPAP Process
+ Ensure accuracy and completion of the PPAP process.
+ Develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for products.
+ Design and implement process control, testing, inspection, and process improvement.
+ Conduct First Article Inspections.
Warranty & Claims
+ Process warranty claims submissions and corrections in a timely manner.
+ Review warranty claims in online supplier portals and reconciles receivables.
+ Handle freight damage claims and initiate SCRs.
+ Prepare and submit returned materials to suppliers for analysis.
+ Create packing slips and manage defective part recalls.
Supplier & Customer Relations
+ Serves as liaison for quality-related issues between suppliers and customers.
+ Participate in meetings to discuss product quality concerns with customers.
+ Travel to customer or supplier sites as needed to investigate and resolve quality issues.
+ Communicate lab results, corrective actions, and quality improvements.
Technical & Analytical Support
+ Operate measurement equipment, including Faro Arm (CMM), Geo Magic, and Cam2
+ Analyze quality data to prepare reports, charts, and graphs.
+ Support disposition of non-conforming material and participate in audits.
+ Recommend and verify effectiveness of process changes.
+ Investigate discrepancies, sort product, and process rejections.
Hands-On Quality Support
+ Complete first article measurements and inspections.
+ Create and maintain quality documentation such as control plans and work instructions.
+ Sort product, investigate discrepancies, and process rejections.
+ Rework of product to ensure conformance with standards.
Other Responsibilities
+ Participate in internal, third-party, and customer audits.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications
Required
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and business management software (Netsuite).
+ Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects.
+ Strong verbal, listening and written communication skills.
+ Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
+ Able to identify and resolve quality issues diplomatically and effectively.
+ Strong critical thinking and research skills.
+ Knowledge of quality evaluation and control principles.
+ Able to understand and analyze large amounts of data.
+ Ability to travel to customer sites.
+ Valid driver’s license.
Preferred
+ Associate or bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
+ Knowledge of GD&T and print reading.
+ 1–3 years of experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance.
+ ASQ certification or willingness to attain.
+ Experience with CMM and 3D drawings (Creo Software).
Supervision
**Received:** Works under the supervision of the Quality Engineering Manager, with the ability to work independently.
**Exercised:** No direct supervisory responsibilities.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
+ Fast-paced work environment in office and warehouse settings.
+ Regular use of hands, arms, and fingers; ability to talk, hear, and communicate clearly.
+ Frequent standing, sitting, walking, and moving throughout the facility.
+ Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
+ Must process information through computer systems accurately and efficiently.
