The Stanford University Department of Public Safety exists to provide a safe, secure atmosphere which is conducive to freedom of expression and movement, for all people and their property at Stanford University, within the constraints of the Federal, State, and Local laws and ordinances.
Core Duties:
+ Provide complex analysis and recommendations regarding data management and the design of dashboard and reports; may develop interactive queries and dashboards for central and distributed users.
+ Lead and own organization-wide complex business intelligence reporting and analysis initiatives; ensure initiatives directly support the organizational mission and are delivered on schedule and budget.
+ Lead data stewardship efforts and develop the metadata supporting the applicable reporting systems. Define and enforce interface design standards and best practices. Audit compliance and provide direction in non-compliance situations.
+ Coordinate the development and enrichment of an enterprise data model assuring reporting system development builds upon the existing data foundation and data model conflicts are resolved.
+ Troubleshoot business intelligence environment problems and opportunities for improvement and coordinate with application team to resolve application bottlenecks and performance issues.
+ Mentor and support the training of new and existing staff in business intelligence design and development.
+ Coordinate the planning, development and presentation of training for users of BI reporting and analysis.
+ May plan, mentor, coordinate, monitor and review the work of other information analytics-type staff during all phases of a project.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Work experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes and workflow.
+ Strong project management skills and ability to understand and apply the software development lifecycle.
+ Demonstrated ability to review business processes and translate into BI reporting and analysis solutions.
+ Extensive experience in data analysis and root cause analysis and proven problem solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
+ Demonstrated ability with enterprise application and database driven applications.
+ Substantial experience with relational and dimensional logical data modeling.
+ In-depth knowledge of and ability using MS Office; analytical and business intelligence programs such as OBIEE, business objects, Informatica, Tableau, Matlab, SAS, R, SPSS etc.
+ Extensive background and experience with report and analysis design.
+ Experience with the application of User Interface and User Experience best practices.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills; proven presentation experience and comfort with senior management audiences and effective facilitation skills with diverse groups.
+ Ability to prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
+ Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
+ Frequently sitting.
+ Occasionally stand/walk
+ Rarely, writing by hand; life/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Working Conditions:
+ Requires 24-hour response availability seven days. SUDPS personnel are considered “essential” or “required” University personnel and shall respond to campus when directed to do so, even with little advanced notice.
+ Must wear personal protective equipment as defined/required by job assignments. SUDPS is a public safety agency; in the course and scope of one’s duties, personnel will be exposed to potentially dangerous and adverse working conditions.
+ May be exposed to persons who pose a danger to self or others, active laboratories, outdoor work and inclement weather conditions.
Special Requirements:
+ Applicant must pass a detailed police background investigation including a search of local, state, and national files for criminal history.
+ Must be able and willing to respond to and work large-scale special events as well as unplanned critical incidents, sometimes with little advance notice.
+ All personnel working for the department are responsible for providing public safety services to the community.
+ Personnel will be trained to perform duties outside their normal day-to-day responsibilities, such as dispatching and/or emergency call taking and/or special events logistics support, so they are able to provide support during emergencies and special events. Training includes familiarity with the Incident Command System.

_The expected salary range for this position is $168,297 - $202,467 per annum._
