Job Summary and Qualifications

The Phlebotomist follows physician orders to perform blood capillary and venipuncture collections from positively identified patients. These specimens are delivered to the laboratory in a timely manner. They receive patients and specimens that are presented to the Clinical Laboratory. They also register patients and/or patient samples for various Client Referral Accounts using a new or proper account number. The Specimens are delivered to the appropriate Laboratory Section.

What you will do in this role:

+ Determines priority on patient care and completes work within appropriate time frame.

+ Delegates work appropriately to job classification with clear concise directions.

+ Ensures accuracy & completeness of work performed.

+ Follows hospital policy and procedure in performing job functions, skills and tasks.

+ Willing to adjust personal schedule in cases of workload fluctuations or other departmental needs.

+ When the assigned work is complete, it seeks additional tasks to be done.

+ Perform well in stress and emergency situations, demonstrating effective coping skills

+ Follows through with assignments and informs supervisor if unable to complete task.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
