Join our dynamic team at the Office of Design and Construction, within the Transportation Planning and Management Division. We lead professional engineering oversight for curb line geometry and street plans across New York City's five Boroughs. Our responsibilities extend to project and contractor management, as well as the implementation of pavement markings for Street Improvement Projects, marking after resurfacing, and street refurbishments. With oversight of 11 construction contracts valued at several million dollars and responsibility for overseeing the installation of 60 million linear feet (MLF) of markings per year, our mission is to enhance the safety and functionality of city streets, aligning with crucial initiatives such as Vision Zero and other city goals. This presents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, experienced, and motivated professional to contribute to the improvement of safety on NYC streets.

The candidate will coordinate closely with RRM, the Borough Commissioner’s Office, and internal stakeholders to resolve conflicts, improve efficiency, and ensure all materials and field methods meet agency standards and specifications.

This position requires collaboration with the Quality Assurance team to confirm that thermoplastic, MMA, gravel, and epoxy materials meet the required standards. The candidate will monitor contractor performance and field safety practices, conduct regular team and contractor meetings to address issues, and ensure compliance with the City and contract requirements. Additional duties include supervising Inspectors, monitoring time and performance, supporting payment processing through quality control reviews, and representing the Construction Unit at coordination meetings with other DOT units and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, and team-focused, with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a commitment to enhancing work zone safety and operational excellence throughout the program.

If you are a dedicated professional eager to make a meaningful impact on the safety and efficiency of NYC streets, we invite you to apply and become part of our mission-driven team.
