Job Title: Blanchard Grinder Operator
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Blanchard Grinder Operator to join our team, working primarily on the weekend shift from Friday to Sunday, 5:00am to 5:30pm. Initial training will occur on the day shift from Monday to Thursday, 5:00am to 3:45pm. The role involves operating grinding machinery to process steel parts, some of which may weigh up to 450lbs. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, industrial manufacturing experience, and the ability to comprehend mathematical concepts.
Responsibilities
+ Operate grinding machinery within a grinding cell.
+ Grind down steel parts safely using jib and overhead cranes.
+ Study blueprints and machining instructions to plan grinding operations.
+ Compute machine indexing ratios and cam dimensions for gear teeth spacing and contour.
+ Select appropriate index plate, cams, grinding wheel, feed rates, grinding speed, and depth of cut.
+ Position and secure index plate, cams, and grinding wheel in the machine.
+ Set up and operate automatic dressing devices to dress the wheel to specified profiles.
+ Control synchronized rotation speeds and feed rates.
+ Position and secure workpieces using mandrels or chucks, verifying positions with gauges and indicators.
+ Direct coolant flow against wheel and workpieces.
+ Verify dimensions of ground workpieces for specification conformance.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to high housekeeping standards.
+ Maintain accurate process sheets and report any router accuracy issues.
+ Ensure high-quality production with minimal scrap.
+ Manage inventory of segments and coolant, ensuring continuous production.

+ Mathematical Comprehension
+ Ability to use precision measurement instruments such as micrometers
+ Experience with 24" and 36" grinders
+ Experience in production run set-ups and safety procedures
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment
+ Basic math skills to identify measurements to the thousandths
+ Proven mechanical aptitude
+ Ability to lift 50-75lbs
+ Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
