Billing Manager (Higher Education)

Natalie Lue with Robert Half if seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Billing Manager to oversee the day-to-day student billing and account management operations in a higher education environment. This role is responsible for ensuring tuition, fees, and other charges are accurately and promptly billed, maintaining student financial account records, and providing exceptional customer service to students and their families. The focus of this position is primarily transactional, centered on billing cycles, account updates, and compliance, with some involvement in system administration or policy development

Key Responsibilities:

+ Generate and distribute tuition and fee bills each term.

+ Post charges, adjustments, payments, and credits to student accounts.

+ Administer student payment plans and monitor compliance.

+ Process refunds in accordance with Title IV and institutional requirements.

+ Respond to inquiries from students and families regarding billing, balances, and payment options.

+ Provide reminders for upcoming due dates and assist with past-due account follow-up.

+ Collaborate with Financial Aid and Registrar teams to ensure account accuracy.

+ Assist with reconciliations between student accounts, the general ledger, and the financial aid office.

+ Maintain current knowledge of billing policies and procedures specific to higher education.

+ Prepare routine reports, including aging, balances, and payment plan statuses.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements:

+ 2+ years of Accounts Receivable experience (billing/collections); additional experience is a plus.

+ Solid tenure at previous employment desired

+ Higher education experience is preferred.

+ Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is a plus.

+ Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and customer service focus.

+ Must be able to work onsite.

+ Familiarity with student information systems or ERP software. Experience with PowerCampus is a plus.
