Position Summary/Description:
The Senior Research Scientist will serve as an epidemiologist and scientific lead for several key components of two or more large multi-center studies or clinical trials, including the ‘Telehealth-Enhanced Assessment and Management after Stroke-Blood Pressure’ ( TEAMS -BP) trial and the ‘Access to and Effectiveness of Community-Based Rehabilitation after Stroke’ study as well as the ‘Integrating Drone Delivery of AEDs Into EMS Response’ (IN- AIR ) study. In collaboration with the Principal Investigators, the Senior Research Scientist will lead development and refinement of the Manual of Operating Procedures ( MOP ), reporting, integration with the clinical team, and dissemination of results, including manuscript and presentation preparations. In these various projects, the Senior Research Scientist will also serve as a Data Coordinating Center liaison to the Data Safety Monitoring Board, manager of the Publications Committee, Project Coordinator, and data analyst. Duties also include leading the creation of Data Use Agreements (DUAs) and institutional review board ( IRB ) submissions; development of proposals and associated budgets; communications with the funding agency; development of complex data reporting templates, databases, and implementation plans; developing databases (e.g., REDCap, other); coordinating collaborative efforts with co-investigators at other sites (e.g., collaborators at other Universities domestic and international); and development of reports to funders.
Education and Experience:
Experience working with quantitative data, including analytical programming, facility with statistical software (e.g., SAS , R) and understanding and evaluating medical literature is highly desired. Public speaking experience is desired. Experience with clinical trials and/or study pilot projects is a plus.
Essential Skills:
The candidate must be proactive, able to work independently, able to adapt, and possess excellent writing and communication skills. Outstanding organizational and management skills are required. Scientific or report writing experience.
This position requires expertise and experience in data management and evaluation; communication with a variety of collaborators across disciplines; planning, implementation, and evaluation skills; focusing on managing several ongoing research studies with collaborators at UNC and elsewhere (domestic and international). The individual serving in this position will need to be able to work as part of a team with minimal level of supervision and maintain excellent communication. Tasks require great attention to detail and a high level of organization.
