Job Duties and Responsibilities
**EchoStar** has an exciting opportunity for a **Bid Strategy Manager - Aviation** in our **Hughes Network Systems** division. This role is responsible for developing and analyzing pricing models/strategies for bids and proposals to ensure competitiveness and profitability, optimizing cost structures and maximizing pricing power. Candidate will accurately reflect the financial impact to the executive team, including margin and cash flow analysis. This role will be located at our headquarters in **Germantown, MD** .
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Bid Strategy Development**
2. Collaborate with sales, finance, and operations teams to develop pricing strategies for bids and proposals.
3. Analyze RFPs/RFIs, customer requirements, and competitive landscape to inform pricing decisions.
4. Create custom pricing frameworks for different airline segments.
5. **Cost Modeling & Analysis**
6. Build detailed cost models to estimate the total cost of delivering a product or service.
7. Perform margin analysis and scenario modeling to assess profitability.
8. Optimize and challenge costs as well as defend market-driven price strategy in alignment with the stage of the bid.
9. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather cost inputs and validate pricing assumptions.
10. **Proposal Support**
11. Prepare pricing sections of proposals and ensure compliance with RFP/RFI requirements.
12. Work closely with proposal managers to align pricing with technical and commercial narratives.
13. **Competitive Intelligence**
14. Maintain a database, working with sales, product and solution engineering on market pricing, competitor pricing estimates, and industry benchmarks.
15. Create TCO models that compare our offering vs key competitors and provide market price recommendations.
16. Use insights to position bids competitively while maintaining profitability, including cost optimization where necessary.
17. Endure solution is not over-scaled or overbuilt.
18. Track and manage win/loss data, proposal performance, and feedback loops.
19. **Stakeholder Collaboration**
20. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., legal, procurement, finance) to validate pricing assumptions.
21. Present pricing recommendations to senior leadership for approval.
22. Build relationships with airline procurement teams and industry partners.
23. **Risk Assessment**
24. Identify pricing risks and develop mitigation strategies.
25. Ensure pricing models account for contingencies and contractual obligations.
26. Clearly demarcate real costs versus contingencies for accurate views and decision making.
27. **Data Analysis & Commercial Intelligence**
28. Monitor industry benchmarks, airline fleet trends, and regulatory shifts.
29. Provide insights to leadership on deal viability, pricing elasticity, and risk exposure.
30. **Pricing Tools & Systems**
31. Maintain and improve pricing tools, databases, and templates.
32. Ensure data accuracy and consistency across pricing systems.
33. **Post-Bid Analysis**
34. Conduct win/loss analysis to refine future pricing strategies.
35. Track bid performance and provide feedback to improve future submissions.
36. Maintain pricing databases and tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
+ 12+ years of experience in pricing, financial analysis, or bid management.
Skills and Qualifications:
+ MBA or advanced degree preferred
+ Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
+ Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling tools (i.e. Tableau Power BI); experience with pricing software is a plus.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
+ Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
+ Knowledge of government or commercial contracting (e.g., FAR, DFARS) is a plus.
+ Experience in industry-specific context, e.g., aviation, defense, IT services.
+ Familiarity with ERP systems and proposal management tools.
+ Strategic thinking and attention to detail.
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $112,000.00/Year - $149,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
