    What you'll do...

     

    The Product Manager (PM) executes delivery of a defined roadmap by leading initiatives involving multiple people, processes, and technology components. This role is embedded within the DIY Online Tax team, with a specific focus on financial products such as Refund Transfer, Spruce, Tax Identity Shield, and Worry-Free Audit Support.

     

    As the PM for financial products, you will be responsible for driving product outcomes that directly impact customer experience and revenue. You’ll write user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria, and lead cross-functional grooming sessions. You’ll also collaborate closely with engineering, design, marketing, legal, and compliance teams to ensure seamless, compliant, and customer-centric product delivery.

     

    This role requires a strong understanding of financial services and a passion for solving complex customer problems. You’ll use data, research, and experimentation to validate solutions and continuously optimize performance.

     

    The PM aligns product requirements with strategic goals, nurtures positive relationships with stakeholders, and is responsible for short- and long-term product results. Additionally, the PM manages the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs, and delivers innovative solutions that help customers manage their tax outcomes with confidence.

     

    Day to day, you'll...

     

    + Engage in product discovery by understanding customer needs through research and customer interactions and manage the discovery process

    + Understand customer needs, manage project constraints, and create artifacts that align opportunities with business outcomes

    + Ensure the successful execution and delivery of assigned features within large-scale products, organizing necessary resources through planning ceremonies, and supporting the product backlog while managing scope, schedule, quality, costs, resources, and risks

    + Write detailed user stories and requirements with acceptance criteria that can be properly translated into automated tests

    + Lead product ceremonies with cross-functional partners to facilitate work from discovery through delivery using modern SDLC best practices and methodologies

    + Prioritize product features and manage the product backlog

    + Engage in meaningful discussions with engineers to align product strategy with technical capabilities

    + Engage with leadership to prioritize based on data-driven insights and outcome analysis

    + Present findings to leaders, clearly articulating the rationale, methodology, and expected impact

    + Identify and monitor key product metrics, drive A/B test design and execution, and ensure accountability for both short- and long-term product results

    + Focus on delivering measurable outcomes and use data to guide decisions and assess success

    + Collaborate effectively with engineering, design, and business functions to ensure alignment

    + Foster a sense of ownership and accountability within the squad and ensure the quality and success of shipped features and OKRs

    + Engage in personal development to enhance product management competencies and adjacent functions such as Agile, Lean, DevOps, etc.

     

    What you'll bring to the team...

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience

    Work Experience:

    + 3 years of experience in product management or a related role

    + Familiarity with formal product management methodologies

    + Basic technical understanding to be able to engage with engineering teams and familiarity with technology delivery/software development methodologies (notably Agile, Lean, DevOps)

    + Demonstrated decision-making, analytical and problem-solving abilities

    + Effective in leading teams/squads in a matrix management environment with demonstrated record of establishing priorities and deadlines

    + Effective written and oral presentation and facilitation skills

    + Ability to communicate with all levels of internal associates, external vendors and business partners

    + Ability to work effectively as part of a team with minimal formal supervision or guidance

     

    It would be even better if you also had...

     

    + Introduction to structured technology delivery/software development lifecycles

    + PMP certification, or equivalent, or completed work towards PMP certification, or equivalent

    + Familiarity with compliance (regulatory, SOX, etc.) and governance issues

    + Tax or financial industry background

    + Experience with product planning tools (ADO, Aha, Atlassian)

    + Familiarity with setting and driving against OKRs (Outcome and Key Results)
