GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Specialist, Public Relations & Communications supports strategic communications and engagement efforts to support hospital campuses, medical centers and other regionally based services. Committed to continuous learning; supporting a well-informed, highly-engaged workforce; and being a key contributor to organizational growth, the specialist will create highly engaging content and informational resources, identify storytelling opportunities, assist with the execution of communication plans, and support the broader efforts of the regional public relations and communications team. This position reports to the Manager, Public Relations & Communications.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Develops and edits content to support market and hospital based communications and PR including internal communications, social media, intranet, web, and other digital content
+ Assists with emergency management and Public Information Officer (PIO) responsibilities as needed, supporting local Incident Command teams, assisting with site-based crisis communications
+ Supports earned and paid community media strategy for key geographical service areas
+ Helps to coordinate community outreach and engagement activities in close collaboration with Development, Government Affairs, market and site-based leaders.
+ Helps to coordinate messaging and information sharing across communications teams for major system-wide initiatives, announcements, programs and other news
+ Works closely with system communications to create, integrate and align team member, physician and nursing, and other employee communications across sites
+ Supports the creation and maintenance of localized physician and patient communications, in close collaboration with communications, marketing and experience teams.
+ Assists with content development for the promotion of new physicians and facilities across her/his market
+ Assists with team member engagement and recognition strategies and events as needed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
+ Minimum of Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Professional/Creative Writing or a related field – or equivalent.
+ A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in public relations, communications, or a related field, with increasing responsibility.
+ Exceptional oral, written and digital communication skills.
+ Excellent people skills – works extremely well with a broad cross-section of team members
+ Must be a critical thinker, able to distill and communication complex medical and other concepts across broad audiences
+ Must be guided by a passion for storytelling, natural curiosity and a collaborative “client partner” orientation.
+ Able to manage multiple projects, accounts and complex issues with an orientation to strategic focus, innovation, creativity and attention to detail and accuracy.
