    Job Description

    Vertiv is hiring a Buyer in Lincoln, Nebraska for planning and procuring material to meet customer requirements at an optimal cost. The Buyer is responsible for maintaining inventory levels, address shortages, and support product evolution daily. The Buyer is responsible for securing the necessary materials to meet the needs of customers and the business. The Buyer works with more complex suppliers and supply chains in order to develop a foundation of basic practices and procedures. The Buyer develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive and may recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing. The Buyer interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain and update the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system with accurate component and material data, including purchase order confirmations, required dates, and promise delivery dates.

    • Plan, issue, and manage purchase orders to international suppliers and vendors based on demand forecasts, ensuring timely material availability for production and customer requirements.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact with suppliers, building and maintaining strong vendor relationships to support reliable delivery and collaboration.

    • Utilize sales history to forecast part requirements and monitor inventory levels, updating relevant information within the ERP system.

    • Collaborate with production teams and schedulers to coordinate material availability and meet scheduled timelines.

    • Coordinate cross-functionally with production, purchasing, and engineering to manage inventory, oversee material and vendor transitions, ensure accurate Bill of Materials updates, and prevent production downtime.

    • Provide annual pricing updates.

    • Provide availability, pricing, and shipping information; generate reports as needed.

    • Monitor and address exception messages related to orders to maintain material availability aligned with production demands.

    • Update ERP data fields, including minimum order quantities, multiple quantity orders, and price breaks.

    • Perform other duties as assigned to support supply chain operations.

    Education and Requirements

    • 3+ years experience in buying and procurement, global expertise is a plus

    • Associates degree required, Bachelors preferred.

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

    • Excellent customer service skills

    • Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills

    • Detail-oriented

    • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

    • Understanding of business financials

    • Proficient in MS Office

    • Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred
