    Job Title: Equipment Maintenance Supervisor

    Job Description

    The Equipment Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating preventive and corrective mobile maintenance activities for the site, as well as other plant equipment as required. This role involves performing supervisory functions by directing hourly maintenance crews and contractors, assigning work, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The supervisor also recommends improvements in methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions for the area and site, while coordinating site visits for planning and pricing quotations for projects.

    Responsibilities

    + Direct hourly personnel and contractors in daily mobile mechanical maintenance activities and assist with special projects within the site.

    + Maintain compliance with all State and Federal Laws and Regulations, promoting safety and adhering to all Mine Safety and Health Agency (MSHA) requirements.

    + Ensure a safe work environment for all employees and perform learning team event analysis as required.

    + Prepare safety reports required for internal use and MSHA reporting.

    + Ensure effective employee relations, providing employee coaching and development, and resolving employee issues through problem resolution.

    + Balance safety, regulatory compliance, quality, productivity, and cost to achieve positive results and work on continuous improvement in all areas.

    + Manage departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provide regular progress reports to management with recommendations for sustaining and/or improving processes/procedures.

    + Provide positive leadership to assigned personnel through proper planning and scheduling in accordance with good maintenance practices.

    + Manage department maintenance priorities and notify Maintenance Manager and Operations Manager of any major material problems affecting equipment/system operations.

    + Attend daily/weekly planning and scheduling meetings pertaining to all areas of responsibility.

    + Perform equipment inspections and participate in major repair and overhaul decisions.

    + Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are performed in a quality and timely fashion.

    + Generate purchase requisitions for maintenance spare parts as needed.

    + Evaluate alternative equipment manufacturers or different type procurement of frequently replaced parts.

    + Scrutinize replacement parts costs to determine cost-effectiveness of producing in-house or purchasing from suppliers.

    Essential Skills

    + Supervision and maintenance skills, including developing, mentoring, and when necessary, disciplining hourly employees.

    + Ability to lead hourly employees and get results through others.

    + Ability to think ahead, plan over a specific time span, and prepare action plans to achieve results.

    + Ability to balance and achieve positive results in safety, quality, productivity, environmental compliance, cost efficiency, and employee relations in a unionized environment.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle assigned work in other jobs in the event of absences, work fluctuations, or emergencies.

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Mobile Maintenance or several years of practical experience in mobile equipment maintenance.

    + Previous supervisory experience required.

    + Experience with equipment such as loaders, haul trucks, forklifts, roof bolters, man lifts, and skid steers.

    + Troubleshooting and repair skills for loaders, haul trucks, and forklifts.

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $98000.00/yr.

    Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job

    classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
