We're looking for EU-based hands-on engineering leader to lead a talented team of engineers in delivering delightful software for SchooLinks customers.
SchooLinks is an ed-tech company that is changing how students explore and pursue their post-high school goals. We have a suite of over 80 tools for students and school staff including college application management, course planning, financial situations, personality assessments, college profiles, and many others. We are a remote-friendly, globally distributed and venture-backed startup.
This is an EU based remote role.
What you'll do:
+ Initially you will serve as a Full Stack Software Engineer on an existing team - planning, coding and shipping features to get acclimated with domain of the product, tech stack and development process.
+ Over time you will work along side the existing Engineering Manager to plan and support the entire pods work.
+ Ultimately you will take over the team which comprises of 3-5 engineers (frontend and backend)
+ You will translate epics and user stories into technical specification and ultimately development tasks
+ You will pair plan, pair code and review your team members PR to ensure high quality.
+ You will ensure the timely delivery of projects and remove blockers as they arise
+ You will collaborate with other managers and leads to identify and implement technical solutions to improve the performance, reliability, and quality of the SchooLinks Platform
+ You will triage, prioritize and manage the resolution of production issues and customer escalations as needed, to ensure optimal resolution
+ You will ensure your team is maintaining good technical hygiene code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices
Requirements
+ At least 2 years of management or leadership experience leading successful software engineering teams
+ At least 4 years of experience working with Django (DRF) and React
+ Experience with asynchronous task management (Celery preferred)
+ Solid fundamentals in relational databases such as MySQL
+ Experience solving challenging technical problems
+ Have a growth, team-first and customer-oriented mindset
+ Strong English speaker
