    Dispatcher — Tolland School District

    **Location:** Tolland, CT

    **Schedule:** Monday–Friday, **6:00 AM–3:00 PM** _(hours may vary based on operational needs)_

     

    Pay: $26.00 - $27.50/hour

     

    At **First Student** , our Dispatchers are a constant reflection of our company’s commitment to safety and customer service. The Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching all buses, ensuring on-time performance of routes, and counseling drivers and monitors on the front line.

    Dispatcher Responsibilities

    Oversee all routes and daily scheduling of buses

    + Counsel and coach drivers and monitors to ensure safety and performance standards are met

    + Manage radio and phone communications, maintaining professionalism at all times

    + Serve as a key communication liaison between the operations team and school district

    + Address driver and scheduling concerns; escalate issues to the Operations Supervisor/Contract Manager as needed

    + Provide timely solutions to route, drop-off, and pick-up challenges

    + Assist with driver payroll, charter reservations, or other administrative functions as assigned

    + Perform back-up driver or clerical duties as necessary

    + Support day-to-day operations and ensure service reliability

     

    Experience and Skills Required

    3–5 years of relevant experience (dispatching, routing, or transportation coordination preferred)

    + High school diploma or equivalent

    + Knowledge of radio dispatch systems

    + Excellent communication and multitasking skills

    + Strong computer proficiency (dispatch/routing software, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)

    + Ability to perform under time constraints and changing priorities

    + CDL-B with P/S endorsements a plus, but not required

    + Subject to DOT drug testing and physical ( _DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason_ )
