Job Summary
The Student Life Program Specialist designs and leads programs that enrich student experiences, build community, and cultivate leadership.
Working in theUniversity of Michigan School of Public Health (SPH) Office for Student Affairs (https://sph.umich.edu/community/student-experience/student-affairs.html) and reporting to the Student Life Program Manager, you will coordinate student life initiatives, events, and communications to strengthen engagement across SPH. You will collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners to build an inclusive, connected community aligned with SPH's mission of advancing health for all.
This hybrid position is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with an expectation of 2 to 3 days onsite each week in theSchool of Public Health offices (https://sph.umich.edu/admissions/explore.html) . Specific onsite days may vary depending on program and event schedules.

Responsibilities*
+ Advise and support SPH student organizations through leadership coaching, policy guidance, and event planning
+ Plan, implement, and evaluate student life programs and events, including onboarding and orientation, to build community and professional growth
+ Coordinate signature annual events such as Alumni Networking Night, National Public Health Week, and Graduation/Grad Kickoff
+ Lead the weekly student newsletter and other communications to keep students informed and engaged
+ Collaborate with SPH colleagues and campus partners such as the First-Generation Gateway, International Center, Center for Campus Involvement, and Rackham Graduate School, and represent SPH in university-wide initiatives
+ Apply inclusive, evidence-based practices that promote equity, access, and wellbeing in all programs and partnerships
+ Gather and analyze feedback to measure student engagement and inform program improvements
+ Manage funding requests and budgets for student-led initiatives while ensuring compliance with university policies, including FOIA and FERPA
+ Supervise and mentor one work-study student employee

Required Qualifications*
+ Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience working in an academic environment, student services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and development
+ Availability to work some evenings and weekends to accommodate events
