The Department of Geography and the Global Public Health Program at Binghamton University invite applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor in Health & Medical Geography. This is a joint appointment between the Geography Department (.50 FTE) and the Global Public Health Program (.50 FTE), with tenure home in Geography. The position offers opportunities for multi- and interdisciplinary collaboration across Geography, Global Public Health, Harpur College, the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (TAE).
The preferred candidate will have an active research program focused on spatial analysis and health policy, and will be capable of teaching courses in these core areas as well as mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The teaching load for the position is 2/2 split between Geography and Global Public Health. The start date for this position is August 17, 2026.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications
+ Ph.D. in Geography; OR Ph.D. in a related field (e.g., Global Health, Public Health, Epidemiology, Sociology) with a MS or MA graduate degree in Geography. Ph.D. must be conferred by August 17, 2026.
+ Methodological background in spatial analysis
+ Experience with health policy analysis across scales (e.g., global, national, subnational, local)
Preferred Qualifications
+ Research/teaching interfaces with one of Geography's strengths in GIS and/or urban
+ Experience analyzing policies related to global health, digital health, telehealth, or health technology access and equity
+ Community-based collaborative research experience
+ Experience with external funding
+ Demonstrated history of teaching experience
