Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
This role will be pivotal in further undersetting how bacteriophages manipulated DNA in their host bacteria, with the broader goal of developing microbial genome engineering approaches. This role will also perform lab managerial duties, including equipment maintenance, ordering, and supply organization. Supervision of others may be required. Individual must also have strong writing skills and experience with manuscript and figure preparation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Identify/design and interpret experiments related to phage recombinase- mediated integration of DNA.
+ Formulates research methods and approaches to answer specific questions aligned with overall laboratory research goals.
+ Investigate mechanisms dictating DNA fate in bacterial cells.
+ Scientific writing for manuscripts including design and construction of figures, must be facile with Adobe suite and Prism software.
+ Supervision of students and training of laboratory members as needed.
+ Serves as a resource for standard protocols, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
+ Perform experiments using techniques that include standard microbiology and molecular biology approaches, microscopy, cell signaling assays, immunofluorescence staining. Writes protocols.
+ Lab management responsibilities, including maintenance of records, ordering, biosafety compliance.
+ Coordinates with and contacts outside vendors and technical representatives for routine equipment maintenance and supply inquiries. Informed about trends in field by reading professional journals, attends/participates in lab meetings, and as appropriate, external meetings and seminars.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ PhD Required
+ 2 years of relevant postdoctoral training or equivalent combination of education and experience Required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Bacterial genetics of pathogens and willingness to be trained, assay development, data interpretation and presentation.
+ Proteinbiochemistry, cell biology/cell signaling. Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed required. Required
