    Job Description:

    The Pharmacy Inventory Coordinator is accountable for meeting all purchasing, receiving, inventory, and returning requirements for drugs and medical or surgical supplies in select hospital, community, or SCC pharmacies. This position manages activities related to the pharmacy inventory procurement caregiver processes. The incumbent works with Supply Chain pharmacy buyers to ensure optimal levels of pharmaceuticals and supplies are available at the best appropriate cost. The incumbent communicates and coordinates information relating to drug shortages and other supply challenges to the medication policy and outcomes team and appropriate key stakeholders.

     

    This position is a M-F Inventory Control Technician who supports satellite pharmacy operations through collaboration, purchasing, and inventory management for both the OR and Infusion areas. Leveraging expertise in 340B program compliance, this technician ensures efficient and compliant procurement practices. This position also serves as a Pharmacy Charge Champion supporting EPIC, McKesson Interdepartmental Billing, and end-of-month RXCM reconciliation. With responsibility for over twenty-five departments, the technician oversees purchasing, inventory, and billing functions for these orders. Additionally, they provide essential backup support, coverage and staffing to the Inventory Control Technician in the IMC central pharmacy. The start and end times can be negotiated but have been 0800-1630 in the past. This position does not work holidays or weekends but may require an occasional order to be placed from home.

     

    This position coordinates and manages procurement and inventory processes in a pharmacy department. Due to the magnitude and complexity of inventory, this role is limited to Trauma and select Community hospitals, Homecare, or Supply Chain Center (Central Fill or SCC Acute Care) locations. Location eligibility will be approved by System Pharmacy Operations Director and Executive Pharmacy Operations Director.

    Job Essentials

    Effectively and efficiently manages pharmacy inventory by overseeing ordering and procurement, distribution, returns, and payment. Works collaboratively with other Intermountain facilities as needed to ensure safety and care of patients is prioritized.

     

    Functions as an expert and resource for inventory and purchasing systems, automated storage and dispensing devices, and any other software or hardware as assigned.

     

    Responsible for controlled substance management and documentation, including any and all assigned audit and quality assurance processes. Ensures all DEA required documentation is complete and organized to facilitate immediate access to information.

     

    Develops, educates, and mentors all pharmacy staff regarding their responsibilities in maintaining an appropriate, organized, safe, and efficient supply chain.

     

    Works with clinical staff to develop an effective response to drug shortage situations and recalls. Works collaboratively with pharmacy leadership to communicate with all appropriate medical, clinical, and business stakeholders.

     

    Participates in quality improvement activities and seeks a team approach to developing and achieving best practices and processes in supply management.

     

    Works with system supply chain in maximizing impact of system initiatives (e.g., cost avoidance, supply chain disruption, new products, formulary changes).

     

    Performs functions of pharmacy technician as necessary.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Current Pharmacy Technician license in the state of practice.

    + National Pharmacy Technician certification.

    + Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of approved drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents (where applicable).

    + Three years of pharmacy technician experience including inventory monitoring or management in appropriate setting for role.

    + Basic computer skills.

    + Bachelor's Degree.

    + Previous pharmacy purchasing experience.

    + Supervisory or leadership experience.

    + Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office programs.

    + Computer skills including Microsoft Excel.

    Physical Requirements:

    Carrying, hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, squatting/kneeling.

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

     

    $24.49 - $37.27
