Novant Health is seeking a Full-Time, Pharmacy Tech II - Certified, to join our Home Delivery pharmacy team, to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time.
*Retail Experience, preferred*
Essential functions include:
Inventory Management: Receive and sign for daily shipments of medications and other supplies from wholesalers and manufacturers. Inspect each for quantity, quality, and integrity of package, annotating purchase order as to condition of receipt and/or any discrepancies; and providing such information to Pharmacy services purchasing coordinator. Report any significant discrepancies to supervisors immediately. Remove received merchandise from shipping cartons and stores in general inventory, following departmental procedure to ensure usage on a first-in-first-out basis. Receive weekly shipment of intravenous fluids and tubing, inspects each for integrity of cartons and accuracy of shipment, and transports and stores in central storeroom for use on a first-in-first-out basis. Pack damaged, out of date, and recalled pharmaceuticals and ships same back to vendor. Dispose of large quantities of cardboard shipping containers properly and maintains immediate work area and the storage area in a clean and organized condition. Perform daily housekeeping duties of all assigned storeroom areas. Operate electric pallet jacks and “walkie-stacker” to unload delivery trucks and transport to storeroom location. Maintain inventory control systems for maximum efficiency. Inventories stock locations as assigned.
• Process: Receive and interpret requisitions for intravenous fluids, tubing and supplies. Remove same from bulk working stock and delivers to patient care areas. Restock pharmacy and satellites IV inventory daily. Transport IV, medications and supplies to hospital locations as needed. • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate and work within department. Assist in training new employees. Participate in pharmacy department meetings and/or programs as required. • Compliance: Follow and support regulatory guidelines. Use Universal Precautions appropriately and when required. Dress and hygiene demonstrate compliance with the Professional Image Policy. Demonstrate and support appropriate Guest Relations behaviors. Complies with and supports departmental attendance policy. Complies with and supports departmental scheduling policy

Qualifications
+ Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred.
+ Experience:
+ Acute: Minimum of two pharmacy skills (examples may include medication distribution, sterile compounding, and/or medication listing activities) required. OR...hired as a Pharmacy Technician 1 Certified and now competently performing a second pharmacy skill as described above. OR pharmacy intern enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school.
+ Outpatient Oncology: Minimum of two years of experience in any setting required with one year of experience in sterile compounding (of IV and/or chemotherapy admixture) preferred
+ Specialty Pharmacy: Minimum of two years in any setting required with one year in specialty pharmacy setting preferred
+ Licensure/Certification:
+ Current registry with applicable State Board(s) of pharmacy, required.
+ PTCB or NHA Certification within 60 days of hire, or proof of enrollment in pharmacy school/(NCBOP pharmacy intern license)/or FPGEE/FPGEC, required.
+ A minimum of one relevant specialized certificate/certification from approved vendor such as PTCB, BPTS or NPTA (examples include but are not limited to product verification, medication history, hazardous drug management, billing/reimbursement, controlled substances diversion prevention, medication therapy management, sterile compounding). This must be obtained within 12 months of hire and maintained as applicable. Not applicable if currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy with an active NCBOP pharmacy intern license, required.
+ Additional Skills (required):
+ State Registration and/or evidence of renewal is required for Technicians fifteen days prior to expiration and Technicians are required to be either certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or be actively enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school with an active NCBOP pharmacy intern license, or be active in Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) or Foreign Pharmacy Equivalency Certification (FPGEC).
+ Considerable knowledge and application of basic math skills, including ratio and proportion relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic technology skills. Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
+ Additional Skills (preferred): Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration, and adverse effects; the ability to demonstrate patient interview skills and strong written and verbal communication skills with other healthcare professionals. Experience with inventory management.
