Seeking a part-time Nutrition Services Cashier to support our Cafeteria department at Houghton Hospital, located on 2200 S Houghton Rd, Tucson AZ 85748.
Day Shift: Schedule TBD, 3, 8-hour shifts weekly to equate to working 48 hours biweekly.
Job Summary
The Nutrition Services Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service while performing cashiering duties in the food service area. This role supports daily retail operations by processing transactions, restocking items, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with food and beverage service. The Nutrition Services Cashier ensures a positive dining experience by following established procedures and safety standards.
Essential Functions
+ Operates cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
+ Maintains cash drawer accuracy and prepares deposits at the end of shift in accordance with established procedures.
+ Supports retail food service operations, including line serving, coffee preparation, and upkeep of beverage stations.
+ Maintains cleanliness of dining and cashier areas, including regular sweeping, mopping, wiping down counters, and cleaning tables.
+ Inventories and restocks food and non-food items in assigned areas, following First-In, First-Out (FIFO) product rotation guidelines.
+ Sets up merchandise and food items for purchase and consumption daily.
+ Ensures refrigerators and displays are clean, stocked, and organized.
+ Provides courteous, helpful service to customers, answering questions and addressing concerns as needed.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
+ 1-2 years of experience in cashiering or food service preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Excellent customer service and time management skills.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
+ Basic math skills and attention to detail.
+ Familiarity with POS systems or computerized transaction systems.
+ Commitment to cleanliness, safety, and continuous quality improvement.
Licenses and Certifications
+ Food Handler’s Permit as applicable by state and county laws required
