    LOCATION OF POSITION: Fairport NY 14450;Office of District Supports, Partnerships and Access - 15 Linden Park

     

    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-Month + 20 Day Position, Full-Time

     

    STARTING DATE: October 2025

    SALARY RANGE: $53,350 - $86,508 per school year

    *Actual Salary Is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Contract.

    DESCRIPTION:

    The Instructional Specialist will work collaboratively with the program director to support school districts to promote the personal/professional actions and organizational practices of culturally responsive sustaining practices throughout Monroe County schools. The Instructional Specialist will serve as a knowledgeable collaborator, facilitator, and advocate in promoting the principles of the New York State Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education Framework, strategic planning around the four principles in supporting Monroe One and BOCES 2 component districts. This position requires a skill set and practices to support regional and individual services that are grounded in principles of equity and accessibility building structural systems of support to help educational communities design and implement a student-centered learning environment that:

     

    + Affirms racial and cultural identities to foster positive academic outcomes

    + Develops students' abilities to connect across cultures

    + Empowers students as agents of social change

    + Contributes to an individual's engagement, learning, growth, and achievement through the cultivation of critical thinking

    DUTIES:

    1. Collaborate with the district leaders in supporting professional learning, strategic planning and evidence-based classroom/program practice in the areas of cultural responsiveness.

    2. Collaboratively develop and support the delivery/train the trainer model of foundational and ongoing training modules to support diversity, equity, and inclusivity across subscribing organizations and their organizational PD departments.

    3. Work collaboratively with the districts’ Organizational Development Team, Champions Team, Office of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development to support equity goals/strategic planning.

    4. Support Program Level teams through consultation, collaboration, and coaching.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Master’s Degree in Education.

    2. New York State Teaching Certification or Other Professional Certification. Special Education K-12 Students with Disability, General Education, ENL or bilingual, School Counseling or School Psychologist preferred.

    3. Must have 3-5 years’ experience in education or related field, including developing PD for adult learners on equity shifts and implementation via culturally responsive practices.

    4. Knowledge and experience promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity in schools/communities.

    5. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse people, groups, and communities across all demographics.

    6. Demonstrated ability to be self-reflective in knowing own culture, personal filters, and implicit biases.

    7. Able to have difficult conversations effectively.

    8. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

    9. Experience with implementing culturally responsive practices in the classroom/school setting.

    10. Experience with creating and presenting effective professional learning for adults.

    11. Knowledge and experience of curriculum development processes.

    12. Experience in evaluating programs, systems, curriculum, and strategies for equity.

    13. Has deep knowledge of, and understands the connections between, the tenets of restorative practice, trauma responsive care, social-emotional learning, and cultural responsiveness.

    14. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).

    15. Flexible workday to occasionally accommodate after school component district team meetings and events.
