    About the Team

     

    The Merchant Platform team is at the heart of DoorDash’s mission to empower local economies. We build the systems and experiences that connect local businesses to millions of customers. Our work spans merchant selection and onboarding, core menu and catalog systems, and initiatives that drive merchant growth and profitability.

     

    We partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and Operations to ensure merchants have the tools and insights they need to succeed on the DoorDash platform. From enabling a new merchant to go live in minutes to ensuring catalog accuracy at scale, our team delivers the foundation that powers every merchant experience.

     

    About the Role

     

    As a Senior Engineering Manager (M2) on the Merchant Platform team, you’ll lead and scale multiple engineering teams responsible for the core systems that enable merchants to onboard, manage their businesses, and grow profitably on DoorDash.

     

    You’ll define the technical vision, guide architectural decisions, and drive execution across high-impact initiatives that balance platform investments with product innovation. You’ll collaborate closely with senior leaders in Product, Design, and Operations to shape the roadmap for how merchants join, manage, and thrive on our platform.

     

    This is a highly visible leadership role with the opportunity to influence DoorDash’s merchant strategy and build systems that empower local businesses at global scale.

    + You have 8+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years in engineering management, leading teams that deliver large-scale distributed systems or complex product experiences.

    + You have direct experience managing managers and scaling multi-level organizations, developing both individual contributors and emerging leaders.

    + You’ve successfully built and scaled engineering teams and systems that serve millions of users or businesses.

    + You bring experience leading both core, high-scale product areas as well as zero-to-one initiatives, balancing long-term platform investment with rapid innovation.

    + You have a strong technical foundation and can engage deeply in architectural and design discussions.

     

    You’re passionate about empowering local businesses and improving economic opportunity through technology.

     

    + You’re an exceptional communicator and collaborator, able to influence across engineering, product, and operations.

    + You thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and drive clarity through strong execution and leadership.

    Compensation

     

    The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

     

    In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

    See below for paid time off details:

    + For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.

    + For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

     

    The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.

     

    $193,800 — $285,000 USD
