    Job Title: Roadway Designer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a motivated civil engineering designer to join our public works group with a focus on transportation and roadway projects. The role involves design, calculation, and plan preparation from concept design through to bid drawings, with opportunities for construction administration. Projects may include complex urban and rural roadways, streetscapes, intersection improvements, roundabouts, safety improvements, beautification projects, trails/shared use paths, and more.

    Responsibilities

    + Support the design and development of transportation projects.

    + Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

    + Assist in performing geometric design, horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, and drainage design.

    + Conduct site visits and field investigations to support design and construction activities.

    + Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects.

    + Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.

    + Prepare technical reports, calculations, and documentation for project deliverables.

    + Participate in meetings with clients, agencies, and stakeholders.

    + Support permitting, utility coordination, and construction administration tasks.

    + Maintain project documentation and assist with project scheduling and budgeting.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Civil 3D.

    + Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

    + 1-5 years of experience in roadway/transportation design, including roadway, highway, intersection improvements, roundabouts, and trails/shared use paths.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + EIT certification or ability to obtain in the near future is a plus.

    + Bridge engineering experience is a plus.

    Work Environment

    This position is mainly in-office, with some flexibility to work from home when necessary. It is not a hybrid or remote role. Most of the work is local to central Ohio, allowing you to see the impact of your work in your community. We offer specialized training with a licensed engineer and significant growth opportunities.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
