About the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites:

Role Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor provides preventative maintenance and repairs to equipment, machinery, buildings, and grounds of the Indiana State Museum. You will supervise at least 2 maintenance technicians, including scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage to meet all institutional needs as outlined by the supervisor.
Work schedule:
+ Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
+ Occasional evenings and additional weekend hours as scheduled.
+ This role is eligible for overtime pay.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $56,650 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities include:
+ Supervise and lead a team responsible for maintenance, event setup, and customer-facing response during business hours for the Indiana State Museum.
+ Work with supervisor to understand responsibilities and priorities as they relate to event and program support, ongoing building maintenance and managing the work order system for requested maintenance.
+ Perform and make routine carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
+ Install furniture components, tile, screens, window glass, doors, wiring and conduits, plumbing fixtures, and other items.
+ Repair locks, make keys, and provide secure facilities throughout the Museum.
+ Assist other maintenance repairpersons and building custodians on major projects.
+ Assist with setting up and tearing down for special events.

What You'll Need for Success:
+ High school diploma or equivalent and minimally 5 years work experience including some supervisory experience.
+ Project Management skills.
+ Effective communication - written and verbally.
+ Customer service skills - including serving internal customers and departments.
+ Working knowledge of and ability to use skills in carpentry, masonry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
+ Ability to read and follow instructions and to handle simple mathematical problems.
+ Ability to determine malfunctions of electrical and mechanical equipment and make repairs.
+ Ability to read and understand blueprints and various drawings.
+ Ability to set tiles, finish concrete and drywall.
+ Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
