Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join a dynamic and expanding team. This role involves providing mentorship to junior engineers, leading both single- and multi-discipline structural engineering projects, and collaborating with a larger team on complex assignments. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing scopes of work, preparing budgets, and supporting new business opportunities. Our projects cover a wide range of the heavy industrial field, including repair and maintenance work, brownfield additions, and large greenfield developments. The structural scope often supports new or modified processes such as piping, tanks, or equipment installations, requiring infrastructure expansion.
Responsibilities
+ Lead and mentor junior engineers in structural engineering projects.
+ Develop scopes of work and prepare budgets for projects.
+ Engage in structural evaluations, retrofits, inspections, and construction support.
+ Support permitting efforts, feasibility studies, and early-phase engineering for concept validation and cost estimating.
+ Design foundations including shallow, mat, and deep foundations for various structures.
+ Design steel structures such as pipe racks, bridges, multi-story towers, and buildings.
+ Work on marine facilities including piers, walkways, dolphins, and bulkheads.
+ Design both prefabricated and stick-built buildings for various uses.
Essential Skills
+ 20+ years of structural engineering experience, with ideally 15+ years in the heavy industrial and renewable fuels sectors.
+ Proven experience with all types of foundations, steel structures, and industrial buildings.
+ PE and SE licenses are required.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage structural projects independently and as part of a multi-discipline team.
+ Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and design practices.
+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in client-facing roles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in commercial building or bridge design is highly valued.
+ Experience with marine facilities or bridge design is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is 100% remote, offering a collaborative environment that encourages curiosity and problem-solving. The role includes a 9/80 work schedule, allowing every other Friday off. Employees benefit from banked hours, where any hours worked over 80 in a two-week period are banked for future compensation. At the end of the year, compensation is provided for all remaining PTO over 40 hours, and 40 hours of PTO rolls over to the next year. Time spent traveling by plane is accounted for as work hours. Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Portland, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
- Permanently 100% remote- Performance based bonuses paid out at the end of the year- 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off- Banked hours - any hours worked over 80 in a 2 week period goes into "the bank". Engineers have the option to be paid for that at the end of each quarter. At the end of the year, engineers also will be compensated for all remaining PTO over 40 hours.- 40 hours of PTO rolls over to the next year
