The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist plays a pivotal role in implementing manufacturing methods and safety protocols at the manufacturing plant. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of EHS HSE – Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements, including regulatory and compliance standards. The role is centered in a manufacturing environment, specifically in the automotive industry, where maintaining a clean and hazard-free workplace is a core value.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure compliance with HTGSS Certification standards, Management System (TS16949), and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
+ Maintain a safe, clean working environment by adhering to all safety policies and the 5S philosophy.
+ Cultivate a culture of awareness and adherence to EHS requirements.
+ Develop, coordinate, and implement Health, Safety, Environmental, Industrial, and Process Safety Programs, along with necessary training.
+ Track, report, and analyze key safety and environmental metrics to meet KPI requirements, reduce exposure, and control risk.
+ Audit and analyze EHS performance data, proposing effective improvements.
+ Conduct facility audits, surveys, and inspections to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance, developing solutions for process improvement.
+ Recommend and implement Green Processes, collaborating with regulatory and corporate compliance entities like the EPA and OSHA.
+ Manage SDS data to ensure safe material handling.
+ Lead Safety and Hazard assessments, including Process Hazard Analysis and Job Safety Analysis.
+ Attend and deliver training in EHS/HSE/SHE skills, and manage the Workers Compensation program.
+ Track compliance with Federal, State, and Local environmental requirements.
+ Lead Safety and Waste Minimization Team programs to enhance EHS performance.
+ Prepare, submit, and document all EPA and OSHA requirements, including OSHA 300 logs, CAA, CWA, RCRA, storm water/wastewater, and more.
+ Develop and implement training to ensure compliance with EHS programs and environmental permit conditions.
+ Oversee chemical and hazardous waste management and account for the EHS budget.
+ Lead emergency preparedness and response programs, including drills and updates.
+ Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Essential Skills
+ 5 years of experience in an EHS automotive manufacturing environment.
+ 5 years of experience with automotive Quality Management System standards (TS16949)/ IATF :2016.
+ 5 years of experience with Environmental Management System standards.
+ 5 years of experience with Health and Safety standards to identify hazards and control risks.
+ Experience in automotive OEM and/or Tier 1 supplier environments is beneficial.
+ Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements, including OSHA and EPA compliance.
+ Risk management, ergonomics, and personnel protective equipment expertise.
+ Proficiency in MS Office programs and SAP preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
+ Experience with automated manufacturing lines such as medical devices, food production, etc.
+ Understanding of automotive plants and processes is advantageous.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical data and safety rules.
Work Environment
The role involves working in indoor office and warehouse environments, with physical demands including frequent standing, walking, and sitting. This is a Permanent position based out of Mesa, Arizona.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
Hyndai- Transys covers 90% of med/dental/optical costs with a $300 deductible10 days vacation (not negotiable) they add 1 day for each year of service is completePlant shut down over the holidays in December is paid This position is eligible for OT after 45 hours worked, payable at 1.5X. (should expect to make $10-15K in excess of salary).EOY bonus $2-5K based on performanceSummer Bonus $1,200 (everyone gets this one)
