Job Title: General Labor

Job Description

This position involves working as part of a team with the potential to advance to a slitter operator role in the future. Candidates will receive training, but having basic machine operation knowledge is advantageous for success. Responsibilities include assisting with machinery loading and unloading, quality checking steel during and after processing, and using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. The role also involves shipping and receiving materials and ensuring safe work practices.

Responsibilities

+ Assist with loading and unloading machinery.

+ Quality check steel during and after processing.

+ Use measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

+ Ship and receive materials within the facility.

+ Move materials around the facility.

+ Work safely in a team of 3 to 4 members and assist additional packers as needed.

Essential Skills

+ Manufacturing experience with presses, steel, and large machinery.

+ Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

+ Proficiency in reading a tape measure to 1/16".

+ Experience with hand and power tool usage.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Overhead crane operation.

+ Experience as a slitter operator.

+ Forklift operation.

+ Experience working with steel.

Work Environment

The facility is a 40-50 person steel operation that is clean and well-lit with newer machinery. **Shift times include 6-2, 2-10, and 10-6, with a standard 40-hour workweek and voluntary overtime unless covering vacations.** Personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety glasses, arm sleeves, hearing protection, high visibility vests, and steel-toe shoes, is required. Uniforms are provided to employees.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of **Butler, Indiana.**

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
