The Springfield Mill is a 1,750+ ton per day containerboard mill with one paper machine, a continuous digester, a secondary fiber plant and a utilities/chemical recovery complex. It currently operates with 290 mill employees.
The Engineering Manager at the Springfield Mill will support IP’s performance goals by managing day-to-day engineering responsibilities and, when necessary, coordinate with maintenance. This position will guarantee the appropriate internal and external resources are identified and readily accessible to accomplish mill and business specific requirements and initiatives.
This position will report to the Engineering/Maintenance Department Manager
The Job You Will Perform:
+ Primary responsibility for leadership of the engineering areas, including Project Engineers and capital investment projects.
+ Provide active, visible support for the mill safety program as the highest priority.
+ Participate in the development of the budget, strategic and capital plan processes and manage the overall process.
+ Lead the facility to superior manufacturing achievement through superior maintenance and engineering techniques, total quality principles and preventative maintenance.
+ Assists other team members in the mill as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
+ Demonstrate leadership and manage the staff of the Engineering department including mentoring and skill development.
The Skills You Will Bring:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or technology discipline
+ 10+ years industrial experience in managing engineering and/or maintenance projects
+ Proven experience of safe execution of work and influencing others to follow safe work practices. Must hold safety as a core value and provide safety leadership.
+ Work history of successfully leading people through influencing others to achieve desired results. Must demonstrate positive leadership principles and a positive “can do” attitude.
+ Must have demonstrated career interest and capability for progressing to a Engineering/Maintenance Manager level position in the future.
+ Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and management of budgeting process.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and present to various levels of the organization
+ Work environment is 24/7. Must be willing and able to be on call as needed and/or required, including mill leadership coverage for weekends.
+ High degree of computer and data handling skills including working knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, SAP-PM and use of other electronic databases
