VP, Head of Art
About the Role
BGB Group is seeking a visionary VP, Head of Art to lead, elevate, and modernize design across the agency. This is a newly created role with a rare opportunity to define the visual future of a leading healthcare agency. As VP, Head of Art, you will influence the visual language of our work at the highest level and set new standards of craft, beauty, and design excellence that elevate every brand we touch.
Key Responsibilities
+ Agency-Wide Influence: Serve as the central creative authority for design and art direction across the agency. All major creative workstreams should pass through your lens at a high level, ensuring cohesion, beauty, and elevation.
+ Design Leadership: Lead the graphic design function across campaigns, branding, digital experiences, and visual identity. Oversee the creation of logos, brand books, brand architecture, and digital identities.
+ Craft & Execution: Act as the agency’s Head of Craft, setting the bar for executional excellence. Provide final polish on high-stakes work, from pitch presentations to key visuals.
+ Team Leadership: Guide and grow a team of designers, presentation specialists, and image makers. Identify when to bring in specialized talent (e.g., retouchers, motion designers, typographers) to deliver best-in-class execution.
+ Innovation & Modernization: Stay at the forefront of design trends, image-making tools, motion design, and emerging technologies (including AI) to ensure BGB remains ahead of the curve in visual storytelling.
+ Presentation & Pitch Excellence: Oversee the presentation design team, ensuring our pitches, decks, and client-facing materials reflect the same creativity and polish as our campaigns.
+ Collaboration: Partner closely with Creative Directors, Copy Leads, and Strategy to make the visual language an integral part of the idea — not an afterthought.
+ Cross-Divisional Support: Provide creative leadership and design elevation across Market Access and Medical Communications communities, ensuring visual storytelling, data visualization, and scientific content are equally compelling and cohesive.
+ Partner with UX/UI, Social, and Omni teams to align on evolving trends and deliver maximum audience impact with streamlined production.
Qualifications
+ 12+ years of design and art direction experience, with at least 7–10 years in leadership roles within creative agencies, studios, or brand environments.
+ Proven track record of leading a design or studio function at scale, ideally in hybrid advertising/design/branding environments
+ Deep expertise in typography, layout, branding, and visual identity, with a strong portfolio showcasing both concept development and flawless execution.
+ Hands-on craft ability in retouching, image-making, motion, and digital design, combined with the judgment to know when to bring in specialized talent.
+ Demonstrated ability to elevate design sophistication across an organization and to set new standards for craft and execution.
+ Experience leading cross-functional creative teams and mentoring emerging design talent.
+ Facility with presentation design and pitch materials, ensuring the same level of polish and visual storytelling as campaign work.
+ Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to inspire teams and partner effectively with senior creative, strategy, and client leads.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field (Master’s degree or equivalent experience a plus).
