The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and operational partner to plant leadership, supporting all aspects of human resources in a unionized folding carton manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for employee relations, labor relations, talent management, workforce planning, and compliance. The HRBP plays a key role in fostering a high-performance culture, ensuring alignment with collective bargaining agreements, and driving continuous improvement across the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
Labor Relations
* Serve as the primary HR contact for union-related matters.
* Interpret and ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
* Partner with plant leadership and union representatives to resolve grievances and disputes.
* Prepare for and participate in contract negotiations and labor-management meetings.
* Maintain documentation related to grievances, arbitration, and disciplinary actions.
* Support union contract administration and ensure consistent application of policies.
Employee Relations & Engagement
* Build strong relationships with employees and leaders to promote a positive work environment.
* Address employee concerns and conduct investigations as needed
* Lead initiatives to improve employee morale, retention, and engagement.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
* Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and support recruitment efforts.
* Ensure hiring practices align with CBA provisions and company policies.
* Support onboarding and orientation for hourly and salaried employees.
Performance Management & Development
* Guide leaders through performance management processes, including coaching and corrective actions.
* Identify training needs and coordinate development programs.
* Support succession planning and career development initiatives.
HR Operations & Compliance
* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as company policies.
* Maintain accurate HR records and support internal and external audits.
* Monitor HR metrics and provide insights to leadership.
Culture & Change Management
* Promote company values and drive cultural alignment across the plant.
* Support organizational change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor\u2019s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
* 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a unionized manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of labor relations, employment law, and HR best practices.
* Proven ability to manage complex employee and labor relations issues.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Experience with grievance handling, arbitration, and contract negotiations.
* SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification.
