Career Opportunity: Shift Supervisor

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:

* Oversee the processes and baling of incoming recycling materials so that outbound recycling materials are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills.

* Assign and oversee execution of production, safety, and housekeeping duties.

* Active participation in and encourage employee involvement in the Health and Safety Programs of Smurfit Westrock.

* Supervise production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures for the plant.

* Train and coach operators.

* Conduct employee performance counseling.

* Responsible for shift schedule to include: workstation assignments, rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and temporary labor.

* Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.

* Coordinate with Operations Manager for appropriate staffing levels.

* Schedule and conduct shift meetings.

* Responsible for meeting shift production goals.

* Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.

* Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).

* Communicate with other Shift Supervisors and Operations Manager.

* Ensure a clean and safe work area.

* Complete shift paperwork.

* Assist in production as necessary.

* Authorization Training in the following: Lock out Tag out, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Aerial, Loader, Bobcat, Forklift, and balers. (Will be trained in house)

* Maintain and aid to plant\u2019s preventative maintenance program.

* Other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

* Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.

* Knowledge of the recycling processes, procedures, and machinery. This is normally acquired through two to five years of manufacturing experience.

* Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.

Working Conditions:

* Working conditions include a non-climate controlled environment.

* Communication with diverse staff.

* Work involves lifting materials and product up to 45 pounds.

* Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
