    Job Title: Accounting Manager Date Revised: 2/17/2023 - 10/17/25

     

    Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) FLSA Status: Exempt

     

    Department: Fiscal PC/BOD Approval: 6/28/23

    Job Summary:

    The Accounting Manager is responsible for working collaboratively with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on financial matters for Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, Inc. The Accounting Manager will report and work closely with CFO, Senior Administration, and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization. The Accounting Manager will assist in the compliance and recognition for government (Federal and State) contracts and private grants. S/he must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace. Assist the CFO in organization's financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationships with lending institutions, board members, and the financial community by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor degree in accounting from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in non-profit and fund accounting preferred. Valid Driver's license

     

    **Supervisory Responsibilities** : Supervises Fiscal staff in the absence of the CFO

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    1. Preparing Board reports and attend Board Meetings

    2. Process payroll

    3. Oversees Accounts Payable is being processed.

    4. Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.

    5. Performing timely and accurate journal entries.

    6. Act as the liaison between the fiscal department and the staff of various Housing Programs to ensure the programs remain in line with the budget, accounts payable is processed in a timely manner, as well as completing the vouchers.

    7. Assisting with annual audit preparations.

    8. Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.

    9. Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alert the CFO if necessary.

    10. Communicating regularly with the CFO.

    11. Acts as back-up to CFO when unavailable or absent, including assistance with inquiries concerning financial information.

    12. Assist the CFO in ensuring the proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions

    13. Remains up-to-date on nonprofit audit and best practices as well as state and federal law regarding non-profit operations

    14. Prepare and complete monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting reports as required including vouchers.

    15. Performing other accounting duties and supporting staff as required or assigned.
