About this Role
Ampacity is seeking a Payroll Administrator to manage accurate , compliant payroll processing for Ampacity's growing team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you'll oversee weekly payroll cycles, prevailing wage compliance, garnishments, tax reporting, and serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll questions. This mostly remote role (1 day onsite weekly) is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who excels at managing multiple priorities, communicates effectively with field teams, and is driven by precision and meeting critical.Must be onsite at least 1 day per week in Monterey, CA. Hourly Rate: $26-$31 per hour
What You'll Do
+ Review weekly timecards In HCSS timekeeping system for accuracy and correspond directly with field crews and supervisors to resolve payroll issues, corrections, and approval requirements.
+ Calculate and process weekly per diem, travel and vehicle allowances.
+ Manage weekly child support and court-ordered garnishment calculations, prepare payments, reconcile accounts monthly, and close out files upon completion
+ Process weekly vehicle allowances, monthly internet allowances, and employee payroll advances
+ Monitor unemployment claims for terminated employees and respond to state inquiries in a timely manner
+ Investigate and respond to payroll-related tax notices and work with payroll team to resolve
+ Serve as primary point of contact for employee payroll questions.
+ Approve time-off requests in accordance with company policy.
+ Collaborate with HR and Accounting to recommend payroll-related strategies and process improvements.
+ Stay updated on changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
+ Weekly standard payroll reports; attend departmental meetings.
What You'll Bring
+ 3+ years of payroll processing experience
+ Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Windows; NetSuite and HeavyJob experience is a plus
+ Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all work
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with diverse teams
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information
+ Self-starter who can prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet non-negotiable deadlines
+ Willingness to work onsite 1 day per week

Compensation Range
The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $26.00/Hr. - depending on experience and qualifications.
