The **Commerce Platform and Experiences (CPX)** team is responsible for enabling frictionless purchases and management of Microsoft and third-party products and services via portals and APIs. We power one of Microsoft’s most strategic and high-scale platforms, supporting millions of customers and billions in revenue across global markets.
We are expanding and looking for passionate Software Engineers who thrive in solving complex problems, building robust distributed systems, and driving innovation through AI and Guardrails programs which is focused on improving service **reliability, maintainability** , **operational readiness** and **developer productivity** .
We are seeking a **Software Engineer II** .
You will play a pivotal role in designing AI-driven solutions that empower Commerce to scale across multiple clouds while enhancing developer productivity. This opportunity uniquely positions you to influence customer experience, shape system design, and drive partner services in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Responsibilities
+ Design, develop, and implement AI-driven guardrails to detect risky configurations and patterns, proactively prevent outages, and improve service reliability.
+ Build solutions that autogenerate remediation recommendations, accelerating developer productivity and reducing resolution time.
+ Build monitoring, auditing, and reporting solutions that provide transparency, accountability, and continuous compliance on a global scale.
+ Participate in code and design reviews, and analyze incident debriefs to extract key insights, applying them to strengthen systems, platforms, and operations.
+ Create proactive, AI-enabled tools that help teams detect and address potential issues during the development lifecycle, before they impact production.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver customer-focused, compliant solutions.
+ Contribute to architectural discussions and long-term technical strategy, ensuring security and compliance are built in by design.
+ Write maintainable, and well-tested code while fostering engineering best practices.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years of experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture and cloud platforms.
+ 2+ years of experience in solving, designing, coding, and debugging distributed systems.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
+ 2 years of experience with deployment automation, telemetry tooling and live-site engineering practices.
+ Ability to ship high-quality, well-test code and to operate services in production.
+ Experience working with cloud services like Azure.
+ Experience working with enterprise grade systems handling mission-critical business logic.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
