*Director of Legislative Affairs * The Director of Legislative Affairs is responsible for devising and implementing the legislative strategy to carry out the Secretary’s initiatives requiring legislative action. The incumbent of this position discharges the duties of the Secretary with the authority and direct responsibility for programs associated with legislative liaison activities. *_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_* * S/he articulates the views of the Secretariat, including its agencies, on legislative initiatives. This includes preparing reports, memos, fact sheets, and other materials to support the Secretariat’s advocacy and policy agenda to advance legislative and policy solutions. * S/he communicates the policies of the Secretariat and the viewpoints of the Secretary regarding legislative issues, and programs and matters of interest to the Secretariat and its agencies as requested by the legislators. * The incumbent of this position responds for the Secretariat to requests and inquiries from legislative committees, individual legislators, and their staffs. * S/he coordinates legislative oversight activities involving the Secretariat, as well as the appearance of Secretariat witnesses and the interagency clearance of all legislative testimony. * S/he tracks and monitors all bills filed by the state and federal legislature; performs research and gathers information pertaining to the bills. This includes preparing and disseminating information as needed regarding any legislative action that will have an impact on the Secretariat; providing insight into legislative history. * S/he coordinates stakeholder outreach efforts. * The Director of Legislative Affairs will perform all other duties as assigned. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience. II. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience. III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience. IV.
