Summary You will serve as a Lead Radioactive Material Specialist in the Material Shipping Branch (2380.4), Nuclear Engineering & Planning Department of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will certify the shipments of radioactive material shipped by the shipyard are properly classified, described, packaged, marked, and labeled. You will direct the monitoring of radioactive material to be shipped and review the estimate of the radioactive content. You will be responsible for inspecting radioactive material and notifying the shipper via official correspondence of any discrepancies and request discrepancies be corrected in the future. You will coordinate supply efforts on all assigned requests to ensure expeditious issue and shipment of material as well as develop and revise packaging standards. You will brief managers and officials concerning packaging of radioactive material issues, problems and program accomplishments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience procuring, receiving, storing, controlling, issuing and disposing of radioactive materials, components and equipment. Experience applying leadership and team building skills and techniques such as group facilitation, coordination, coaching, problem solving, interpersonal communication, integration of work processes and products and obtaining resources. Experience analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of supply programs and/or operations. Experience with utilizing automated database principles involving shipment and receipt of radioactive material. Experience enforcing the regulations, principles, and standards applicable to handling, storing and disposing of radioactive materials.
