Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
Pay Range: $52 – $85 per hour
Position Overview
System One is seeking a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analyst to support the analysis and design of advanced thermal-fluid and energy systems for the liquid sodium-cooled Natrium Reactor Program.
Reporting to the Manager, System Thermal Hydraulics Methods & Analysis, this role focuses on performing investigations and simulations of thermal hydraulics, fluid dynamics, and fluid-structure interactions. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with commercial CFD software packages and a strong background in thermal-fluid systems engineering.
Responsibilities
• Perform analysis and design of reactor-related structures, systems, and components.
• Conduct computational thermal-fluid and thermal-structural analyses using multi-dimensional CFD tools.
• Prepare documentation and present analysis results to peers and external stakeholders.
• Support the development and application of nuclear industry best practices to enhance design quality.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to evaluate thermal and mechanical design considerations for reactor systems and components.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (or 3+ years with a master’s degree).
• At least 3 years of demonstrated experience using Siemens STAR-CCM+.
• Strong working knowledge of CFD best practices, modeling techniques, and mesh strategies.
• Experience with dynamic thermal-fluid system modeling.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with nuclear systems applications of CFD.
• Knowledge of high-temperature thermal-fluid systems or low Prandtl number fluid heat transfer.
• Familiarity with validating simulations using experimental data.
• Experience integrating CFD results into mechanical or structural design workflows.
