Research Support Specialist
Required Qualifications (as evidenced upon an attached resume):
Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Marine research experience in the field and/or laboratory. Experience with laboratory analyses associated with plankton and/or nutrients.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology, Marine Biology or related science field. Experience in culturing phytoplankton, water quality monitoring and related laboratory and field procedures, including analysis of nutrient concentrations, microscopy, and other plankton identification approaches such as flow cytometry, imaging flow cytobots. Knowledge of phytoplankton including species identification. Experience synthesizing large data sets into figures and reports; command of statistical analyses.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Research Support Specialist will work in the Gobler Laboratory under the supervisor of Principal Investigator, Dr. Christopher Gobler. The incumbent will be culturing phytoplankton, and monitoring water quality.
Responsibilities will include:
+ Culturing phytoplankton.
+ Field Sampling.
+ Laboratory processing of field sampling.
+ Nutrient analyses.
+ Plankton identification and quantification.
+ Performing and supporting field and laboratory experiments.
+ Data input, organization and management.
+ Data analysis and report writing.
+ General laboratory and equipment maintenance and inventory.
+ Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
